Texting has only been around for about as long as I have been, 20 years. Although it didn't really take off and become an every day thing until the later half, it's surprising to see how far it's come already. I pondered the idea of
"Where will texting be in 20 more years?"
Some of my initial thoughts
- Will texting even be around as we know it as "SMS" still
- Will it be more photo/video based
- Will we have to type, or will we mostly just talk to our phones because of how far voice recognition software has come in the last few years?
As I did some brief research on the internet, several sources thought that it would be almost the same as it is now, but possibly incorporating more voice options. More icons and emojis were another popular suggestion as to what we may or may not see more of in the next 20 years. Interestingly I didn't find any that said that that texting would become a fad or outdated in anyway, or possibly replaced by something newer and more efficient.
